On May 15, local time, the "China-Zambia High-Quality Development Cooperation Forum" was held grandly in Lusaka, the capital of Zambia. Jiang Qingbin, Vice President of SANY Group and Chairman of SANY Heavy Industry's Africa Region, attended the forum and, in the presence of the President of Zambia and the Chinese Ambassador Extraordinary and Plenipotentiary to Zambia, signed a Memorandum of Understanding (MOU) with His Excellency Peter, Minister of Energy of Zambia, for the 30MW Photovoltaic Power Generation + 60MWh Energy Storage Project at the Ruida Mining Site.
This project marks SANY Group's first significant overseas venture in the photovoltaic business, fully embodying the collaborative spirit of the Africa Region's platform-based operations. Its exploration of the "Mine + Photovoltaic + Electric" business model offers a new perspective and pioneering path for the Africa Region and even SANY Group to expand into overseas photovoltaic markets, marking a milestone achievement.
In recent years, Zambia's traditional hydropower generation has faced significant challenges due to climate change. As an essential area for deepening China-Zambia cooperation under the Belt and Road Initiative towards high-quality development, this project is of great significance to Zambia's efforts to combat climate change, promote economic development, and diversify its energy mix. Additionally, it serves as another exemplar of Chinese enterprises entering Africa and contributing to the well-being of the African people.
Building upon the outcomes of this forum, SANY will continue to invest more resources in the new energy sector while seeking additional cooperation opportunities worldwide, sharing China's development achievements with the global community and contributing to the global low-carbon economy.
