On June 10, the 18th Global Green Energy Leaders Dialogue kicked off in grand style at the InterContinental Shanghai. Dai Qinghua, Director of Sany Group and Chairman of Sany Silicon Energy, was invited to attend and shared profound insights during the "Roundtable Dialogue I: Exploration and International Cooperation in China's Green and Low-Carbon Energy Development."
When discussing the prospects of the photovoltaic (PV) industry, Dai Qinghua emphasized that the new energy revolution is just beginning, with boundless potential ahead. As a core component of the new energy sector, the PV industry, despite facing industry-wide losses currently, has made remarkable contributions to the new energy revolution, as evidenced by the substantial year-on-year increase in PV installed capacity. Taking Sany's factory in Chongqing as an example, he noted that in the past, the low return on investment made it challenging to advance rooftop PV projects, requiring extensive coordination among multiple parties. However, last year, numerous companies rushed to invest, and Sany ultimately decided to build the project itself. This shift clearly demonstrates that the decline in PV prices has provided a fundamental impetus for a significant increase in new energy installations. While the PV industry is currently experiencing temporary setbacks, its future remains bright. Sany remains deeply committed to the PV manufacturing sector, expressing strong confidence in the industry's future. The company allocates substantial resources annually to research and development and talent acquisition, striving to drive the advancement of the PV manufacturing industry.
Regarding investment in the PV industry, Dai Qinghua pointed out that the past year has been fraught with difficulties for both the manufacturing and investment sectors within the PV industry. Nevertheless, he firmly believes that the future holds great promise, as the growth in China's energy demand, particularly for new energy, is an inevitable trend in historical development. Just as a consensus emerged a couple of years ago that "the endpoint of bits is watts" in relation to AI development, the realization of "watts" relies heavily on new energy. Therefore, although domestic investment may experience a temporary downturn in the short term, global investment is poised to reach new heights.
In conclusion, Dai Qinghua issued a call to action. As a highly competitive and globally leading industry, the PV sector must prioritize the interests of the industry over those of individual companies and personal gains to achieve healthy development. Only in this way can the industry overcome its current challenges and embark on a path towards more robust and sustainable growth.
