On December 29, the Zambia Reida Mine Photovoltaic Energy Storage Microgrid Power Generation Project, a milestone for Sany Silicon in the overseas "photovoltaic (PV) + energy storage + diesel generation" microgrid power generation sector, accomplished its initial grid connection. This marked the commissioning of Africa's first and largest single-unit photovoltaic-energy storage-diesel mine microgrid project. It symbolizes that Sany Silicon has achieved remarkable results in promoting Africa's green energy transition and sustainable development, and has officially taken a significant step in the field of China-Africa new energy cooperation.
As the largest mine microgrid project in Africa, this project is equipped with a 13 MWp photovoltaic system and an energy storage battery system with a total capacity of 39 MWh, along with a diesel generation system as a backup power source. It constructs an advanced microgrid integrated energy system that combines photovoltaic, energy storage, and diesel generation. The aim is to ensure a stable and reliable power supply for the mining area, achieve energy self-sufficiency, effectively reduce dependence on traditional energy sources, and enhance energy utilization efficiency and sustainability.
In this project, Sany Silicon Green Energy Company has consistently adhered to the "Sany Speed" benchmark, being responsible for the overall development, design, construction, and delivery of the project. From the signing of the Power Purchase Agreement (PPA) to the completion of the project and the provision of electricity, it took only four months. Faced with challenges such as the complex geographical environment and climatic conditions in Zambia, as well as difficulties in material transportation due to underdeveloped infrastructure, under the personal coordination of Mr. Dai Qinghua, Chairman of Sany Silicon, the Sany Silicon project team swiftly formulated a detailed and flexible construction plan. They raced against time to carry out key construction tasks, minimizing the construction period while strictly ensuring project quality. This series of rapid and orderly actions fully demonstrates Sany Silicon's outstanding capabilities in project management and execution.
The grid connection of this project officially opens a new chapter for Sany Silicon in the practice of green mine energy in Africa and lays a solid foundation for the future development of green energy in Africa.
